Andrus Corporation Owner, James Andrus, grew up living in and working on historic homes with his grandfather and father. His background in renovation, restoration and preservation gave him focus when he founded Andrus Corporation in 1998. The business started with small repairs and quickly found its' niche with historic properties. Over the years, James has developed relationships with many of the leaders of preservation in North Carolina. His technical expertise guarantees success on both residential and commercial properties.
Jimmy Stewart joined the Andrus Corporation team in June of 2008, coming from a background in commercial and residential tile. While tile may be his background, Jimmy is also well-versed in all aspects of the building industry. He has over 20 years of experience in custom kitchen and bath remodels.
Walter Amerson is also a valuable member of the Andrus Corporation team. He has worked in the building industry in Rocky Mount and surrounding area for most of his career. He is very familiar with the process from start to finish.
At Andrus Corporation, our goal is to satisfy our customers’ requests while paying attention to time and budget. Pre-construction consultation – including project feasibility and cost – is one of our best practices. We work with historic zoning commissions and discuss the funding of the rehab to remove construction hurdles and sticker shock as the project nears a timely completion.
Our professionals are skilled in several areas of the building process, including paint, paint removal, plaster repair, wood siding and trim repair, framing, brick pointing and laying tile. Although we specialize in historic renovation, restoration and preservation, Andrus Construction is known for its custom-built homes and additions as well. Our craftsmanship and professionalism are unsurpassed. Andrus adds value to every project it undertakes, which means that we also nurture the sub-contractual relationships we have established with other trades, such as site work, cabinetry, plumbing, HVAC and electrical.

Our estimating is performed using XactRemodel combined with subcontractor pricing. XactRemodel relies upon databases of building components, which are updated monthly and are specific to geographic regions. It establishes quantities for materials pricing from 3-D drawings we create for each project. This helps us to compare and contrast various pricing scenarios for our clients and determine the constructability of proposed design solutions. It also indicates the number of man-hours required for each task, which enables us to develop more accurate project schedules.
Andrus Corporation is certified by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Division of Public Health as a Lead Renovation Firm as well as the United States Environmental Protection Agency. In addition, our professionals are certified North Carolina Renovators. Andrus Corporation is state-licensed and fully insured in all areas of construction.
